Glenn Huges the original Leather Man in the Disco Group The Villiage People.

It all started when Glenn was working as a Toll Collector his friends dared him to respond to a advert seeking macho singers. He went along to the audition & as they say the rest is history.

The group was put together by The French born producer Jacques Morali after watching a group of men dancing in a Greenwich Village nightclub in New York and decided to put together a disco group which included an Indian, a soldier, a construction worker, a police officer, a cowboy and Glenn Hughes the Leather Man.

In 1977 the group had there first hit single with San Francisco (You've Got Me). The year after that the group made there first hit with Macho Man The band produced a great string of hits including Y.M.C.A. In the Navy & Go West helping them sell an estimated 65 million albums and singles combined.

In 1980 Glenn featured in the band's autobiographical movie Can't Stop the Music.

In 1996 he retired from dancing and launched his own successful New York cabaret act, which kept him busy until lung cancer was diagnosed. He was replaced by Eric Anzalone as the Biker character. However, Glenn continued with management of the band.

During Glenn's later years, he was known for riding around the streets of New York with his Harley Davidson motorbike. Glenn was also referred to by the People Magazine's 1979 list of most beautiful people.

Sadley Glenn died at his Manhattan home on March 4th, 2001 at the age of 50 from lung cancer. He was buried in his favorite riding leathers at his own request.
